History of UBTS

History of founding of Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary begins with appearance of Evangelical – Baptist movement in Ukraine. Light of Jesus’ Gospel began to shine to Ukrainian nation in 60-th of 19-th century.
To get systematic Bible education was a dream of many ministers from different generations during 150 years.
In 20-30-th. of previous century in Rava - Ruska city, Galicia, Bible school for preachers, missionaries and choir directors was opened.
But years of World War II stopped it’s development. Many people had to move to foreign countries but even there they continued to study, pray, dream and wait.
Finally long-awaited freedom came: during years of independence the number of churches increased, Bible schools of different levels where opened.
Arose the need of time to open Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary in order to develop Ukrainian theology.
So in the year of 2000 it was decided to establish UBTS.
The founders of UBTS are the All Ukrainian Union of Churches of Evangelical Christian-Baptists and co-founders are Ukrainian Baptist Unions of the USA and Canada.
L’viv region was chosen to be the location for the seminary. It is a picturesque land with very religious people, who preserved their native language and culture. All of these factors contribute to the development of Ukrainian theology.
