PHILOSOPHY OF UBTS

Mission. Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary is called to:
1. Help church to fulfill it’s purpose – to assist in establishment of God’s Kingdom on this earth through defense and development of doctrines and strengthening of the church in society.
2. Be scientifically-analytical center of Evangelical-Baptist brotherhood in Ukraine and to be center of providing church ministry with necessary religious materials.
3. To train qualified teachers and church ministers for churches in the Union and for different church institutions.
Mission statement of UBTS: to train Christ centric, highly qualified workers for scientific-theological work and effective practical ministers in order to meet the needs of the church.
Values. Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary consolidates and values:
1. Evangelical teaching (Scripture) as faultless, inerrable and authoritative revelation from God, which has one content and which was put together in the text by authors, who were lead by Holy Spirit.
2. Church as the one who will share in the glory of Christ.
3. Practical Biblical-theological studies and Christ centric training of students.
4. Formation of evangelical thought in terms of fundamental theology.

Tasks of Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary

The task of the seminary is in providing with necessary education and preparing for practical ministry Christians, able to fulfill Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Main direction of the work of the seminary is training of future ministers, theologians, teachers and evangelists. Seminary is to become base for training of spiritually qualified staff for Evangelical Union of Ukraine, especially for churches of western region of Ukraine and Lviv region.
At the same time UBTS is open for those Christians, who, after gaining theological education, want to work in secular establishments or want to grow deeper in their spiritual life.
By training of the future leaders of Church of Christ, seminary makes special stress on priority of evangelical teaching, Bible experience and practice.
Thereby seminary was founded and is functioning for development of Evangelical-Baptist brotherhood in Ukraine. All the spheres of life and work of UBTS (program of studies, students’ life, church practice, personal spiritual growth of students) are submitted to a single goal – to serve Jesus’ Body:
To train future workers for the system of Christian education; to help local churches in establishing of church education;
To increase level of theological knowledge, practical organizational and counseling skills of pastors and church workers;
To train future ministers according to main directions of specialization, capable of ministering in already functioning churches and of planting of new churches.
Vision of the seminary
To become authoritative center of Biblical-theological studies in Ukraine and Diaspora.
To conduct scientific-theological work and to assist in development of theology in native language.
To become needed for churches in providing them with professional spiritual workers. To have classes for pastors, church ministers, teachers and missionaries.
To be consulting center concerning questions of faith and ministry, help to ministers in
training and in practical sphere of their ministry.
To conduct practical conferences and purpose-oriented seminars on the basis of UBTS and local churches.
To do scientific-theological work and to be on the same level with Baptist theological seminaries of Ukraine and near abroad, by providing of proper level of accreditation.
To reach satisfactory material, technical and scientific level ( InfoBase, library, textbooks and books, programs, teachers, etc.).
To develop publishing of religious literature.
In the future seminary should grow into scientific establishment, which not only will teach students but also will create programs of studies, work on textbooks and scientific works, conduct scientific and methodical conferences and this way will assist in development of Christian education in Ukraine.
Purposes of the seminary are in practical teaching of students.
To help students to gain deep knowledge of the Bible and to understand Biblical and historical foundations of Christian doctrines and life;
To help students to realize what is God’s calling considering their life, to use Christian doctrines and ethical norms in ministry, personal and public life;
To provide students with necessary knowledge and skills for ministry; to give them level of knowledge, which meets demands of nowadays.
